S.A.S – (noun) acronym for “Stephanie.Ansley.Susanna”; roommates, soulfriends, Lord of the Rings enthusiasts and now, fashion bloggers.
Hi guys, so we’re Susanna, Ansley and Stephanie and this is our blog about fashion, our friendship and our adventure through school at BYU-Idaho. We’re Mormon, let’s just get that elephant out of the room right now. However, this does not mean we dress like pioneers. Some days we even look halfway decent. We met our first semester here at school, the first week. We all moved into Kerr Hall not knowing anyone really and after one crazy night involving pie, banging ladles on walls, disbelief over Ansley’s last name and Stephanie making an extremely ridiculous first impression, BOOM we were friends. And then, after another night about a month later, involving Susanna’s Hermione shirt, embarrassing ourselves at our friends’ house, and James belting a hymn at us as we left, FLASH we were best friends. Ever since then, we’ve been through thick and thin together – struggles with family, friends, significant others, and trying to keep each other from making totals fools of themselves (and almost always succeeding). We’re a little bit funny (well, we crack each other up), a little bit serious (sometimes we even go to class and get good grades!...sometimes), a little bit stylish (mostly thanks to Ansley’s wardrobe) and always a little bit crazy (only a little though). With each of us all across the country (and world), this will help us keep in touch as well. And so, let the blogging…COMMENCE!
Oh Ni Hao.
Here is my little blurb/about me that I am sure everyone will just skip over because looking at pictures is way more fun than reading! Yet I am still going to write one so oh well! The thing is, I am actually in China right now having one of my life adventures and am loving every minute of it. More on that later though. So I was on Skype aka my lifesaver talking to my good friend Steph Chidester and she sent me a link to this site called slightlysasy... I thought it was going to be some random blog she had just found and fallen in love with. So you see the thing is we have to go through a proxy site to get onto blogspot while I am in China so I tend to avoided it for as long as possible... For those of you who know Steph Chidester you know she doesn’t forget so alas I did go on only to find out it was a blog for SAS!! I was elated. Now here I am typing away. This is part a fashion blog and part a blog about the three best friends ever. I am sad to share that my style will be lacking for the next several months because I for some reason decided to not pack clothes... Can you say hooray for outfit repeating! It’s my favorite :) So bear with me, this hopefully won’t be too painful.
Oh yes the about me part... Well my name is Ansley Goldade (Gold-Daddy) people often have trouble with my name so I like to help out when I can. I am from the great rainy state of Oregon. I am about twenty minutes away from Portland and you can bet I love that place. Portland is a weird weird city and I wouldn’t change it for anything. I love that people aren’t afraid to express themselves there because I most certainly love to express myself and don’t think anyone should hide who they are. I love the outdoors; hiking, biking, and whatever else rhymes with 'iking'. Like viking. And striking. I EAT IT FOR BREAKFAST. I am a Special Ed major at BYU-I and am in my Sophomore year. Currently though I am taking a semester off to teach English to cute little Asians for 5 months. Some may think it’s foolish and crazy but I know with 100% surety that I am supposed to be here. Take that dreamcrushers! I love my life and I love my family and friends. So there you go! Not too painful right?
I decided that we all know Sus and Steph are WAY more creative than I will ever be... But every once in awhile I can have a good idea so let me know what you think of this idea. This is a blog about 3 friends as we already established right? So I figured in order to get to know us better I will post a fun fact about SAS each time. Here we go...
Let me first start by saying one thing: I’m not fashionable. I have no idea why I agreed to take part in this blog. Maybe it’s because I was threatened into it by my two very best friends.
I mean, who could say no when these beauties are staring you down like so?
Or maybe I did it to be part of something. Or to maybe inspire someone, or make another one’s day just a little bit brighter. Regardless of reasons, I am here. Pretending to know what I’m doing and revealing my life to the world of bloggers. So get to know me a little bit – Don’t be shy. Take off your coat, sit down and stay awhile.
You might be wondering a little bit about who I am and what makes me tick. Well. If you are, you’re not alone. I’ve been wondering the same thing for the past 20 years. After all that time, you’d think I’d have a clue. But maybe this blog will help me get to know myself as much as it helps you to get to know me. Meanwhile, here’s a little rundown of myself, as much as I’ve figured out at least.
- My next dream vacation would be Greece. I love the idea of being immersed in such a rich culture with so much historical depth and flavor. Plus, its plain beautiful there.
- I think lipstick is pretty. I’ve been trying to muster the courage to wear it in public for years.
- I love dogs. My first child is guaranteed to be part of the canine species. A note to Future Husband: This is not a joke. You better buy me a puppy.
- People say I look like Rachel McAdams, which is a comparison I don’t really feel I deserve. I wish I could be that gorgeous.
- I have a weakness for sunsets. I’ve gotten into many close calls driving because I’m staring at the sky rather than the road.
- I have this weird fear of making phone calls to people other than my friends or family.
- I can’t wait to become an elementary school teacher after I graduate from BYU-Idaho. Little kids inspire me!
- A flirty boy makes me giddy, my face still breaks out once in awhile, going to the movies without my parents makes me feel grown up, and I like to play with makeup in my spare time. Basically, I’m a 13 year old girl inside.
- The Guardian is one of my all-time favorite movies. It makes me cry every time. Also on my list is Lord of the Rings, Gone with the Wind, The Notebook, and Oklahoma, and yes – Anne of Green Gables.
- I have an outie belly button.
- I was adopted. But I strangely look like my sister which I share no blood relation to.
- Taylor Swift. That’s all I have to say.
- I am one of those people who doesn’t have to talk all the time. In fact, there is nothing more reassuring to me than being with someone and being completely ok with silence. I believe comfortable silence is the biggest sign of friendship.
- I heart Mexican food. I’d eat it every day if I would let myself. I also heart root beer, strawberry rhubarb pie, and garlic bread.
- I actually like to garden.
- Bath and Body Works is probably my favorite store. I could spend hours in there, which I have done on more than one occasion. My favorite scent, you may ask, is Sensual Amber. Try it: it will change your life.
- I really don’t like to exercise. But for some reason I pretend like I do. Whatever works, I guess.
- I like to organize, plan, clean, set-up, and build things. Which is probably why I love my current job as an office manager.
- I belong to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My decision to follow Christ has blessed my life and it has given me peace and purpose as I continue on my journey.
Well, that’s that. You could argue that those are just facts. Which they are. But I truly believe that these seemingly insignificant facts are a direct reflection of what I look like on the inside.
Guys, I’m happy. I’m healthy. I’m me.
And that’s the best feeling ever.
All right ladies and gents, I’m Stephanie, and I’m a blogaholic. It’s a recent obsession, but let me tell you, it’s a harder habit to kick than you may think. However, I would like to say that although the other 2/3s of S.A.S are blaming me for this blog, they were ECSTATIC about it when I told them about it. They wanted to do it more than I did. Those faces are not as innocent as they look.
ANYWAY, about me…what to tell you. There’s the generic stuff like that my major is Communications and I want to go into news media when I grow up. Please save the lectures on how it’s a dying business, I’ll never be able to support a family, I’m a horrible person for even thinking about etc etc…I already am aware that failure is unavoidable blah blah blah. DON’T TELL ME HOW TO LIVE MY LIFE. Just kidding, I obviously value your opinion. Which is why I am apparently posting my outfits all over the internet for you to judge and throw rotten tomatoes at (but seriously, please don’t. I don’t even know how to get rotten tomato out of clothes). I really really love clothes and fashion. I’ve always been the girl with the almost disgusting amount of clothes. I can’t say they were always cute clothes (embarrassing stories/pictures for another day…) but hey, personal style is always a work in progress, right? I have kind of a unique perspective because I grew up in Boston, I go to school in Idaho and have lived in Dallas and now in DC over the past 3 months. It gives me a more generalized view on what’s “fashionable” all over this wonderful nation of ours. I’ll let you in on a little secret – as long as you’re wearing clothes, I promise you’re fashionable somewhere. That knowledge gives me courage to wear what I think is cute. Most days when I get dressed, I feel like I'm playing dress-up. I LOVE music. In fact, that should be bigger. I LOVE music. There that’s better. Like, imagining me pulling a Tom Cruise and jumping up and down on Oprah’s couch and yelling it like a lunatic. If you are friends with me at all, you will find this out soon enough. Generally I like to take it upon myself to see that good music is always playing and the people around me are listening to good music. If you aren’t, I WILL find you, and I WILL fix that. Just ask my roomies. Hmmm what else…I have 7 brothers and 1 sister (yes, all from the same parents and no, not because we’re Mormon), I go to BYU-Idaho, I like anything cinnamon flavored (candies, cookies, candles etc), I use ellipses a lot when I write, I HATE Mexican food and I wish people would stop making me eat it and I’m extremely sarcastic and make pop culture references at every opportunity. I like to think I’m funny, but generally no one else does. This I’m sure you’ll discover on your own if you dare to continue reading A Little Bit S.A.S-sy. And it is a dare. I double dog dare you to keep reading. And you don’t want to back down from a double dog dare and look like a wuss, do you?
Aaaaaaaaand that's us. We now christen this blog: A LITTLE BIT SAS-SY! Stay tuned!
